Today’s featured scrapbooker is Pam Callaghan. Pam runs the inspiring blog Ideas for Scrapbookers, where you’ll find “FREE templates, sketches, tutorials (everything you can think of), digital items, innovative ideas, product review, challenges, contests, and so much more.” She’s a busy lady, and we’re so glad she took the time to share some of her tips.
1. Tell us about your process for creating a layout.
I usually start out with photos in mind for my page. Next, I draw out my sketch idea onto paper or computer. It is hard for me to do something from memory and easier if I draw it out. I create my design, put my photos on the page, and I always do the journaling last. I don’t put a time limit on my page, they usually take me two hours but sometimes more. I am very much into putting lots of detailing onto each page.
2. Can you share a time-saving tip with us?
Drawing out my sketch is a big time saver. I know exactly what my page will look like and it goes so much faster than me trying to create it from scratch. I don’t really have any other time saving tips because I enjoy taking my time with each page. I really enjoy the process of creating pages.
3. What are your favorite/go-to products?
My favorite go-to products are Kraft paper, an exacto knife, pop dots, and lots of My Minds Eye cardstock papers. I love Kraft paper so much, it is like a pair of blue jeans for me, it goes with everything. I do have a Making Memories Slice, but I still use my craft knife a whole bunch. Pop dots are great for just about any page. I also adore the backside of My Minds Eye papers (and the front side too) because they have a slightly distressed solid color that I can use as my background paper.
I love My Minds Eye papers too, and for exactly the same reason! Those papers are beautiful and very versatile. Thank you, Pam, for sharing a bit of your scrapbooking process with us. Below are two more of Pam’s layouts. Be sure to visit her site for more!
