Today’s featured scrapbooker is Kristie Taylor. As you can see from these layouts, Kristie has a very distinct and fun scrapbooking style. I love her creativity!
Kristie talks to us about her creative process:
1. Tell us about your process for creating a layout.
Well my process changes a little with the type of project I am doing, for instance if it is a design team project, then I of course start with the products or techniques that are required and then build a background. My backgrounds are almost always a solid or nearly solid card stock. On the card stock I can build texture and interest with things such as spray ink, paints and stamps. I also like to use lots of layers, so my next step is to decide what colors I want to layer with. then after adhering my photo I start adding embellishments.I lay everything out but don’t glue them down until I am sure of the layout I want to use.I don’t set time limits, but I probably should because sometimes it can take me several hours to complete a page.

We have another talented scrapbooker today to share some tips with us. Nicole Martel was gracious enough to let us into some of her secrets for scrapbooking effectively.
Get ready to be inspired!
1. Tell us about your process for creating a layout.
Most of the time, I will start with a photo or two. Rather than focusing on fancy papers and embellishments, I like my layouts to focus on the photos and journaling. Sure, I love using fun scrapbooking stuff, but that’s not as important to me as the photos and the story behind the photos. If you look at my layouts, you can see how I try to scrap good photos and my layouts almost always tells a story even if it’s just in two sentences.
2. Can you share a time-saving tip with us?
Try to keep your work station organized. I have my favorite tools that I use frequently at arms length and I have my embellishments and papers sorted in bins/folders so that I can easily access what is needed. Since everything has it’s place in my scraproom, I am able to scrap layouts under 40 minutes.

Our featured scrapbooker today is Heather Landry. Heather has more scrapbooking tips and ideas for us. I hope you’ll find this peek into her creative process truly inspiring, like I did.
Here’s Heather!
1. Tell us about your process for creating a layout.
When I sit down to create a layout, I usually start with the paper I want to use. I’m a paper junkie and I’m always finding new collections that I just have to have. After I choose paper, I pull photos that match the paper and the event theme. Once I have my photos, I usually plan my design. I am a very organized scrapper and I almost always work from a sketch. I draw my sketches on notebook paper and I incorporate the embellishments I want to use in the design. If I don’t have enough time to create my own sketch, I keep a sketch folder on my computer where I can scan through sketches that others have created. I tend to mat my photos first, and I cut all of my papers to size so I can assemble my page to see if I like it before I commit to adhering anything. Once I like the paper layers, I adhere them and then I start adding embellishments. Generally, I do my title work and my journaling last. I never set time limits on how long it takes to make a page. If I don’t like the way a page is coming together, I set it to the side and work on something else until I come up with a new idea. Read More→
