Some Tips for Creating Great Sports Scrapbook Albums
By
Whether for a child or an adult, creating great sports scrapbook albums is a fun and interesting way to commemorate that big game or big win, or just the fun that everyone had when playing! Great scrapbook pages can be suitable for framing and can make a unique addition to the mantle where it can sit next to – or in place of – that winning trophy. While you may have some ideas in mind for creating those winning (no pun intended) sports scrapbook albums and may have already found so me samples online that you love, it might not be a bad idea to go over some tips and tricks for creating those albums.
One thing that many experienced scrappers know how to do is to coordinate the colors in their pictures with the colors of their pages, and sports scrapbook albums are no different. If that baseball team has team colors, incorporate those into the pages. If the bowling team wears a particular color on their shirts, use that. There may be other sports that don’t actually use colors but if they do, try to get something that coordinates when making up those sports scrapbook albums. This way everything will look planned and as if the elements all belong together as opposed to just being thrown together.
Another thing to do when composing sports scrapbook albums is to consider the shapes you would use for each sport. This might not seem obvious until you start thinking about them. For example, baseball uses a diamond shape for the field, football uses a rectangle, bowling alleys are long and narrow, and so on. If you can use these shapes in your sports scrapbook albums it will look very professional and planned. For instance you might have a photo of your bowler standing there with his bowling ball in his hand and use border images to create a long “lane” with a sticker of some bowling pins at the other end. Do the same for your baseball player – he or she is standing with the bat in hand where home plate would be and use embellishments to create a baseball diamond away from that. If you do this type of thing with shapes you use in sports scrapbook albums you find that there is no end to how you can incorporate them into your pages.
If you want something simpler with your sports scrapbook albums, think of creative ways to create page borders and photo borders and frames. It may seem obvious to use clubs or bats as a photo frame, but think of lining up the particular balls used underneath the photo to anchor it. Other ideas for doing this with sports scrapbook albums is use larger shapes you can put behind the photo. For instance, a large baseball mitt can look as if it’s cradling the photo, or the photo can be popping out of a golf bag with clubs surrounding it. When you start thinking about creative ways to frame and anchor photos used in sports scrapbook albums, you may find that your ideas are endless! You can even cut your photo into a circle shape and make it as if it’s the face of a ribbon, or use a star behind it with the phrase “all star” as a page border. Or use the shape of a sports jersey. These are all just suggestions for photo borders and frames for your sports scrapbook albums.
When making up sports scrapbook albums, you also want to include some great sayings and quotes or just short words and phrases. Some good ones to use for sports pages include All Star, You’re a Ball, Hoop Dreams, Goal!, or A League of Our Own. You can easily find longer quotes that are appropriate for your sports scrapbook albums online; if you have room on your page you can incorporate some of these longer phrases and sayings as well. Remember that you can use these phrases as photo borders as well! Just run the words up and around the photo and you have a great way to anchor them to the page and incorporate your phrases as well.
Another thing to remember about composing sports scrapbook albums is that you want to use embellishments that are appropriate for the sports but you don’t need to use only sports themes. For example many pages can look good with a black and white striped theme as this resembles the jerseys of the referees. You can also use generic colors and templates; the favorite colors of the person in the photographs is always a good idea! It’s easy to go overboard when you compose sports scrapbook albums when it comes to the embellishments and decorations of a sports page, so think of at least scaling it down a bit. Use some discretion when it comes to the stickers and stencils that are all about that particular sport and instead considering using more generic items. If you do this you’ll have lovely sports scrapbook albums that aren’t over the top or that don’t look too contrived either.
Getting posed photos is great for sports scrapbook albums but of course these can be difficult at times. There’s nothing wrong with having some posed shots of your athlete in his or her uniform or some team shots as well. You might think this looks a bit contrived but on the contrary these can give you an opportunity to get just the right shot that will work well for any of those sports scrapbook albums you compose.
Try to use as many of these tips as we’ve outlined for beautiful and unique sports scrapbook albums. You can of course go online and look at the pages that others have created but it helps to keep yours original and true to you or the athlete on the page. If you do, you’re sure to come up with some sports scrapbook albums that everyone will love.
